Payan Bertrand

 Vincent et Eric Proal

The Payan Bertrand perfumery was founded in 1854 and bought by Henri Proal in 1922. Independent family house, it was originally specialized in the processing of plant products (flowers, leaves, gums, roots, wood, beans, balms, etc.) by distillation, extraction by volatile solvents, fractionation, molecular distillation, supercritical CO2 extraction, concentration, and rectification. The extracts obtained - essential oils, concrete, resinoids, absolutes, natural isolates, CO2 extracts - are used in perfumery, cosmetics, food aromatic and aromatherapy.

The company expanded its centennial know-how in the 80s and created a division in charge of the creation and manufacture of perfumed compositions of excellence for the manufacturers of fine perfumery, cosmetics, home fragrances, toiletries, detergence, cleaning products. etc.

Jean Niel

George et Marie De Boutiny

Jean Niel, it’s first of all, a family history. A family who, in 1779, in Grasse – the cradle of the perfume industry –created an enterprise of the future.

Over the course of time, Jean Niel has developed and greatly enhanced its original activities. It’s for this reason that the company is today the oldest perfume factory still active in the Grasse area and one of the rare privately owned family businesses in the trade. But Niel is also a history of ingenuity and tenacity; a history of the women and men engaged in this family saga who have succeeded one another generation after generation, at the head of the organization. Jean Niel, it’s a history of talent and success which has survived the centuries and lives on today in perpetuity.

V. MANE FILS, founded in 1871 by Victor Mane, is an independent family business. In 1871, Victor Mane, a flower grower and distiller, set up his first equipment dedicated to the extraction of perfume plants in Pont-du-Loup, in the South of France, very close to Grasse, the capital of perfumes.

MANE then produced raw materials for the perfume industry from the plants and flowers of the region. His sons Eugène and Gabriel took over the business in 1916 and moved to the Notre-Dame district of Bar-sur-Loup. They developed the production of food flavours internationally. In 1959, Maurice Mane followed in his father Eugène's footsteps, and diversified the company's activity into the food market by manufacturing raw materials for flavours. Under his leadership, the company developed its network of subsidiaries around the world, expanded its production facilities and set up research and testing laboratories. In 1995, Maurice Mane stepped down from the presidency of the company to sit on the Supervisory Board, leaving the presidency of the Management Board to his son Jean. In addition, Jean's brother Michel is Managing Director and President of the Americas Region.

Nowadays, it produces aromatic raw materials, perfume compositions, food flavours and flavours for the pharmaceutical, oral care industries. The company has 53 creation and/or R&D centres and 39 production units worldwide. Located in 40 countries and with more than 7,600 employees, MANE generates 94% of its sales abroad. In 2022, the consolidated turnover was €1,700 Million ($1,784 million) and it is the 5th largest company in the world in its sector of activity. It devotes 8% of its turnover to R&D. Most of the innovation and patenting is done in France. Technology transfer currently represents an important part of the group's growth for which the expertise is local, the network is global and independence is non-negotiable.

Chateau Cremat

An architectural gem on the heights of Nice.

In the heart of the confidential vineyard of Bellet stands the Château de Crémat, a vast French family winegrowing residence in neo-Tuscan style with the latest Nice colours. Overlooking the city of Nice, the castle offers a unique panoramic view of the surrounding area. Its history and singularity intrigue and fascinate visitors in search of typicality.

An atypical and confidential vineyard

Château de Crémat is at the heart of the Bellet appellation: a fascinating terroir. Complex and rich, this unique land with exceptional potential was chosen years ago by Mr Valles, the château's winemaker who has become one of the most fervent ambassadors of the terroir.

Within the castle, there is a beautiful story that dates back to the 1920s with the visit of Gabriel Chanel during a social event. According to legend, she asked if she could use the two C's of the Château de Crémat as inspiration for her brand.

Thomas Derichebourg (Derichebourg , 3rd generation in recycling) will be pleased to welcome you in this unique venue his family owned, an opportunity to talk about his family business founded in 1956.
