Philippe d'Ornano
G3 Chairman, Sisley
After studying law, economics and political science in Paris, then serving as an infantry officer, Philippe d’Ornano joined the family business in 1986.
His first assignment was with the French market, where he became sales manager in 1988; he then took charge of the brand’s European development in 1990 and went on to create and develop 16 distribution subsidiaries.
After his appointment as Executive Vice President in 1998, then President in 2001, he has pursued, alongside Sisley founders Hubert and Isabelle d’Ornano, chairman and vice chairman of Sisley, as well as his younger sister Christine, the development of Sisley in the world, notably by creating the brand’s Asian subsidiaries and opening regional offices in Hong Kong, Miami and Dubai.
The business operates in more than 100 countries, has a network of 34 distribution subsidiaries and employs people from more than 100 different nationalities: he therefore travels extensively, spending around one third of his time outside France.
Philippe d’Ornano takes a keen interest in broader social and business issues and the problems specific to family-owned enterprises: he was involved, with his father Hubert, in the creation of the French Association of ‘Midcaps’ Businesses (METI) founded by Yvon Gattaz. He is today co-Chairman of this association.
A father of three children, Philippe d’Ornano loves nature and travelling; he enjoys and practices several sports, among which surfing, skiing, tennis, swimming and has played rugby in competition for several years.
